The Conservation Authority does engage from time to time in tree cutting within its
land holdings. Whether it be the removal of hazard trees adjacent to public trails or
plantation management, tree cutting is always carried out in good forestry practice and
in accordance with the Authority’s
Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plan (MFTIP).
The Conservation Authority does not regulate private lands tree cutting, however, many
of our member municipalities do. Those local municipalities without a tree
cutting/preservation by-law of their own, may choose to enforce the Region of Durham’s
Tree Conservation By-law.
