Sugar Bush Tours at
Purple Woods Conservation Area
March 6th to April 6th, 2018

 

Central Lake Ontario Conservation is once again offering a Maple Syrup Education Program at Purple Woods Conservation Area in Oshawa.  This is open to private/ public schools and daycares. Please Note: The education program does not operate on weekends or during March Break.

 

Students will receive a guided tour of the sugar bush that includes:

1) An overview of historical methods and the significance of maple sap to First Nations and Pioneers.

2) An overview of modern maple syrup production methods including pipeline and our Updated sugar shack operations.

3) An introduction to the Oak Ridges Moraine.

4) A taste of maple syrup.

 

Tours begin March 6, 2018 and end April 6, 2018. Tours are booked on a first come - first served basis.

3 Tour Times:
9:30 – 10:30 am,
10:45-11:45 am
1:00-2:00 pm.
Maximum number of students/ tour time is 70.  Book now to avoid disappointment.  

A pancake lunch is available during the 10:45am and 1:00pm tour times for a total cost of $7:50/student (tour & pancakes).

 

COST:
~ Student Tour Fee - $3.50/student (Tour Only) or
~ Student Tour/Pancake Lunch Fee - $7.50/student - 10:45am & 1:00pm tours only.

($1.50/ adult if above the suvervision ratio)
(Minimum Fee: $75.00) Extra adult volunteer fee for pancake lunch option.

A cancellation fee of $25.00 will be charged for reasons other than weather.

 

Please Note: Horse-drawn wagon rides will not be operating during the education days.
